civic center powell street and embarcadero. abc 7 is live right now inside of the street straigs. everything seems like it's running smoothly. am i right? it s there is no surprise this is one station protesters said they weren't going to target. they've been doing a good job of leading police on a wild goose chase. we're at the station and protesters marched through going in one end of the station out another police officers who were following told us that they were here to montgomery station. we arrived here. only sign of a protest are extra employees wearing yellow vests trying to make sure everybody is orderly and nobody blocks access to trains down here. and protesters now headed back down into the direction of civic center here in montgomery things looking like a normal commute. >> all right. thank you jonathan. we'll check back with you later. and san francisco prosecutors declined to press charges against the football player for a incident that left another man in a coma. he is recovering from a brain injury. he collapsed in june with an opposing player standing over him.

we are at 1101 embarcadero where schnitzer steel is located. firefighters are on the scene. we can see them spraying water on the debris pile. you can see a crane on the edge of your screen. from news chopper 2, we can see the massive evident to put this fire out with plenty of water. i just got off the phone with the fire battalion chief and he is telling us that what is burning is scrap metal there is no shelter in place at this point, no other advisory. we see plenty of cranes working to separate the scrap metal to get to the fire. to give you another perspective, another fire burned here two and a half years ago. this ace shredding facility for vehicle, appliances and other items. and that fire, two and a half years ago, the cause was spontaneous combustion. we don't know at this point ways causing this. incident commanders are telling us he is too busy to give us a lot of details. that is what we know. we can see a lot of cars parked out here. we do not see a lot of people out here. we will, can, bring that to you when we have more. reporting live in west oakland, amber

because pier 38 has been a sort of mini tech hub for about a couple dozen companies here along the embarcadero. you've got several start-ups, tech firms, even a vc firm. they must pack up and leave. the port authority recently sent out this let tear all of the tenants, letting them know that the entire structure has been red tagged. you can see one of them there, that the pier 38 is unsafe, so much so that they must vacate by 5:00 friday night, september 30. just over three weeks from now. the port says its chief engineer found electrical and plumbing problems, and fire code violations. these revelations come after the port recently won control of the facilities from a man who had been leasing it. they said this man had been subleasing a lot of these spaces without prior authorization or proper authorization. the man alleges that during the time of his lease the port failed to maintain the pier. some of the tenants claim that the port is using the red tagging as an excuse to evict them to make way for the america's cup sailing competition which will come to the san francisco bay area in 2013.
